Too many scams to count. 90% of the business opportunities online.
My definition of a scam is an opportunity that is created with the sole purpose of ripping someone off. Not something that just isn't a good fit or you lose money because you decide you don't like it or they don't refund your money because you are 33 days out on a 30 day return policy. No, all scams have this one thing in common:
No one can make money with it because it is set up for everyone to lose. I don't want to write a 10 page article about the history of scams because we are really focusing on the internet scams here. Since the internet took off (shortly after about the year 2000), people have been using the net to scam other folks. Folks can use technology to create trust similar to what we find in the offline world (also much faster) plus with credit cards, electronic currencies and wires, the scam industry hasn't exactly experienced the slow down the rest of the world has.
Scams are as old as civilization. The Internet has just made scamming people more efficient. If something looks too good to be true, tripple check it before getting involved - you may be looking at a scam!
