Paid Names
I call this type of scam "Paid Names" because I don't know what else
to call it. Once I tell you what it is, I guarantee that you have seen
it on some level somewhere.
Paid name scams are where a company will advertise that they are willing
to pay people $.50 to $3 for every name that they collect. All you have
to do is get a piece of paper, a pen and start getting names from wherever
you can.
The ads are very well done and very enticing. Now, if you know anything
about direct marketing you would know that companies are not going to
pay $3 for a name. Yes, real estate agents will pay up to $100 per name
but these names are extremely qualified and the people paying for them
know exactly where the names are from.
Maybe you think there are companies that just want to get names from
wherever they can. They could do some sort of monster mailing for an
offer that everybody in the world would be interested in. There are actually
mailing lists (called compiled lists) that already have every name and
address in the US, how many people live there and the lists are 99% deliverable.
These names run about $.06 a piece.
What is the real deal here? These companies that claim they are buying
names are really just making the $29.95 to be able to sign up and get
started. After you get their kit, you find out that you are only able
to send in names that you have gotten from ads that you have taken out
that say, "Make $10,000 a month. Send $2 for details." The $2 is where
you get your money.
It's funny they don't mention this before you send in your $29.95. I
am sure that you see what is really going on.
